The Locker Room

Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney

This dynamic project was awarded to Altis Architecture after winning the design competition held by Sydney Olympic Park, with their unique building design showcasing design excellence both architectural and urban. Included in the intricate brief was the need for the building to achieve a 5 star sustainability rating which was achieved. The site is in a pivotal location at the intersection of two major concourses in the heart of Sydney Olympic Park where sporting and entertainment, town Centre, showground and major public transport infrastructure all converge. The building itself is highly innovative and secures its presence in amongst the dominating surrounding structures; stadium and train station. A large canopy roof extends beyond the building defining external public spaces whilst integrating with the surrounding landscape. The ground floor hosts a self-contained family friendly casual dining space with bar, back of house and separate gaming area. Level 1 features a multi-use function zone and bar. Above, a roof terrace and garden bar boasts views out over the park. All three levels are interconnected by a sinuous cascading stair from the entry foyer. The venue has become hugely popular after its opening, particularly pre and post concerts, sporting and various other events in the area.
