Martha - Belmont 16s
Belmont, NSW
Martha is an elevated Cocktail Bar and Dining Experience at Belmont 16s. Martha was the name of the 30-tonne sailing ship led by Captain William Reid in the 1800’s heading from Sydney to collect coal which led to the discovery of Lake Macquarie. The space is bathed in natural light with outdoor terraces presenting sweeping views of Lake Macquarie, offering a unique culinary experience prepared using Mibrasa Ovens.
Natural light is pulled into the building via a series of pitched roofs. The form of the roofs were specifically designed to emanate the repetitive angular pattern of boats sheds in a row. The roof panels contain expansive skylights within. Terraces lace the exterior façade providing a connection between indoor and outdoor. The finishes palette consists of soft pastel tones seen reminiscent of a seaside sunrise and sunset. A theatrical sage green servery and open kitchen is framed by copper and brass accents. The historic narrative is further conveyed through the design, branding, and menu, this ambitious project has surpassed expectations.
