A Competition Winner

‘The Locker Room’ restaurant and bar pavilion in Sydney Olympic Park is now complete! This dynamic project was awarded to Altis Architecture after winning the competition with their unique building design showcasing design excellence both architectural and urban. The site is in a pivotal location at the intersection of two major concourses in the heart of Sydney Olympic Park where sporting and entertainment, town Centre, showground and major public transport infrastructure all converge. The building itself is highly innovative and secures its presence in amongst the dominating surrounding structures; stadium and train station. A large canopy roof extends beyond the building defining external public spaces whilst integrating with the surrounding landscape. Beneath this expanse are two organic free-flowing levels consisting of a curved glazed façade and intermittent light-weight screening.

– A DYNAMIC NEW HOSPITALITY HUB –

The ground floor hosts a self-contained family friendly casual dining space with bar, back of house and separate gaming area. Level 1 features a multi-use function zone and bar. Above, a roof terrace and garden bar boasts views out over the park. All three levels are interconnected by a sinuous cascading stair from the entry foyer

Part of the design brief itself was to ensure numerous active and passive sustainability design principles are considered. These have been achieved through considerations made in the shading, facade design, orientation of the spaces, material selection, ventilation, fixtures and fittings, and landscaping. Overall the building is a success in its design and construction and is set to be a key venue in the area.
