Canterbury League Club Is All About Escapism

Canterbury League Club is all about escapism. Responding directly to the needs of the community, the latest refurbishment sees the continuation of the resort aesthetic, whilst introducing sophisticated and exciting new contemporary venues to attract a much wider demographic. The new design offers a seamless interaction between the warmth of natural materiality, beautiful stone and timber finishes, tropical landscaping and classic detailing, with state of the art smart technology. The new copper façade offers a canvas for a nightly LED lightshow that is fully programmable and controlled by the club.

A new 350 seat ‘Bakehouse Café’ offers refreshment 24 hours daily in an art-nouveau styled café. This venue includes bustling café, a relaxed and intimate lounging area, and a transitional workspace with plug-ins for small business meetings. Altis has completely renovated the existing bistro to increase the seating capacity to 660. A new bistro terrace overlooking the landscape gardens of the club continues the resort narrative with the abundant use of fresh vibrant materials and playful motifs.

Exciting New Contemporary Venues Within

Out of sight, but integral to the clubs function and future proofing is five levels of underground car park, and a basement level of loading docks and kitchens. Above all of this the external gardens have been reinstated and a new frameless glass lift lobby rises out of the cascading water feature.

Level 1 sees a full gaming refurbishment and extension that has allowed the club to consolidate gaming in one area. The room is filled with custom designed lighting, screens and sophisticated detailing, and includes an exclusive VIP area surrounded by lush gardens and water features. On entry to the gaming room presides a new stylish cocktail and bar area, ‘The Atrium Bar’. An innovative circular cocktail pod cantilevers over the existing entry void space to allow members to sit within the central rainforest landscaping and view it from above as the pod ties the vertical spaces together cohesively.

The entire project is meticulously detailed, skilfully designed and intelligently delivered, and a project that Altis is incredibly proud of. It is a project for the community and one that will continue to contribute to the local and wider area for years to come.
