A grand transformation

First opened in 1950, the Brighton Lakes Golf Club was tired and outdated to say the least. Located in Moorebank in Sydney’s west, and bounded by the M5 motorway, the club was blessed with ample land and space, yet limited funds to capitalise on it.

After years of exploring a range of options, a collaboration with residential developer, Mirvac was borne, with the agreement that Mirvac would create new golf holes, help fund a new clubhouse and develop non-core land into housing.

With a new housing development on the surrounds of the club, and with the increase in population in surrounding areas, the design brief was to create a new club house that would provide contemporary and upmarket hospitality in the beautiful landscaped surrounds of the golf course.

A new sense of place

Working within the confines of a tight budget, we worked to create a space that makes the most of the surrounding green space, but which also offers high quality food and beverage, a great clubhouse and a large contemporary function venue overlooking the golf course and lake.

It’s incredible the difference a venue can make. Membership of the club has soared from 1500 members prior to construction to over 8000 and rising since the opening of the new club and facilities. Not only is the future of the club secure, but so too is the maintenance of this important green open space within a densely populated area.
